Fun and Easy Neighbor Gift Idea...

Kassidy helped me out alot this year and decided to make gifts to give out to our neighbors.

This is what she made...
This is what she used...a package of kettle corn...a pair of stretch gloves...10" of green ribbon...a piece of copy paper...a red heart punched from scrap paper...a carrot cut from orange scrap paper...scissors...tape and a fine point marker.

She wrapped the popcorn in the copy paper...

Placed the stretch gloves on top for his hat (one glove is inside the other) and tied the green ribbon round the middle and trimmed.

She used pop glue dots to add the carrot nose and the heart...and finished them off with coal eyes and mouth which she drew with a marker.

She signed the back "Merry Christmas from the Holt's"...and placed them in a basket for delivery.
Oh ....I almost forgot!...she thought the snowmen looked a little washed out ...lol...so she added some blush makeup to thier cheeks!
Kassidy's snowmen gifties were inspired by this cute one that my friend Debbie from Busy as Can Be gave to me.
Debbie was inspired by THIS BLOG.

Well...before you know it Christmas Eve will be upon us...are you ready?

Once there was a snowman!...

I realized that I hadn't showed you my snowman quilt that hangs in the entryway of my family room....

It's called "How to make a Snowman"....and it hangs above my stacked red and green benches. Below it, I keep my Coca-Cola factory....a frame that I made with all kinds of fun srapbooking elements...and a calender to remind me of how much time that I really have left....lol

Underneath the red bench is my very vintage santa doll in a sparkly silver wreath...

I hope you are all getting through the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the big day...

I've still got some sewing to do...wrapping and just a bit of shopping left. I feel like time is running out but somehow I'll get everything done...thankfully Kassidy stepped in to help and made all of the gifts for our neighbors and the kids teachers etc....
I will show them to you next time!...

P.S. If you are interested in my pattern...call Nadine at Material Girls 801-495-4290 and she will send you one!

My vintagey Christmas continued...

I thought I would show you more pics of my family room at Christmas time...

Close up shots of things under glass...

A glittered chapel...

A teeny-tiny snowman ornament under a teeny-tiny cloche...

Away in a manger...no crib for His bed;

The little Lord Jesus....lay down His sweet head...

And close up shots of things inside glass...

Snow in a jar...

Lots of snowballs in a jar...

Snowflake in a jar...

A giant snowball in a jar...

Are you starting to see a "snow" theme?...lol

It's nice to have my family room completely decked out in my vintagey Christmas.
It's right outside of my studio and I can enjoy the tree lights and listen to old time carols to keep me in the Christmas spirit as I happily work away:)
Still more to come...

Bringing home the tree!...

When I spied this vintage red Chevy truck in the Antique Mall this summer....it tugged at my heartstrings.
My brothers used to have a truck like it and seeing it brought back a piece of my childhood to me!

I brought it home....(big suprise huh)...and now that Christmas has come around...I thought I would use it in my decorations. So I strapped on a freshly cut pine tree (from Michaels)...and brought it home for decorating....LOL
Does anyone else have fond memories of "bringing home the tree?"

Today I'm showing you the tree in my family room...

As you can see....I like my trees stuffed to the brim with all different kinds of ornaments.

I have taken several close up pictures so that you can see some of them...

I have 3 different garlands and a variety of one of a kind ornaments too...all with a vintage flair and things that bring back wonderful Christmas memories from my childhood.

Such as this Toy Shop from the Island of Misfit Toys from "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" television special. Us kids looked forward to watching it every year!

Vintage reproduction ornaments...

Snow globes are a favorite of mine...

And of course....I can't have a childhood memory tree without the leg lamp from "The Christmas Story"....you'll shoot your eye out!....LOL

I found 3 of these snowman at a little 5 and dime drugstore several years ago....I think they look very vintage!

Old tin toy replica's that one might have found under the tree in days gone by....like this blue pedal car.

Candy canes...snowflakes...flocked ornaments and glittered balls.

You know by now that I love snowmen!

Whoops....double shot loaded.

Anything Coca-Cola goes with vintage Christmas decor... as far as I'm concerned!

Cinderella's glass slipper....it hangs on a battery operated ornament turner and slowly spins round and round on the tree....Sophie Belle is really fascinated by it....she points to it and says "shoe!"

Of course I would have a sock monkey sitting in the tree ...you know how I love them!
And a guitar....for Mr. Honey's childhood memories...he got his first guitar for Christmas when he was a boy and each one of our kids have received thier first guitars on Christmas too.

An old pedal airplane toy...

Another guitar...this one a red electric Fender...pom-pom garland...Santa ornaments and "Silver Bells".

Another garland made with shiny metal discs...very retro 1950's....and more candy canes and glittered balls.

The red glittered tree topper is a Martha Stewart vintage reproduction....the perfect finishing touch:)
I could show you more and more ornaments but this post is already too long!

We put the tree behind our sofa and in front of the french doors that lead out to the back yard...we don't use them in December.

Our family room is a nice cozy place to gather and watch a movie...read...or as you can see my 13 yr. old....it's a nice place to do your homework!

More Christmas decor to come tomorrow!...for those of you who made it this far thru the many pictures of my tree...I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I hope you enjoyed it!
